Coalition Formed
Community Associations in the City of North Vancouver have formed an umbrella coalition group. Based upon the model of the Federation of Community Associations in North Van District, the group is dedicated to encouraging more effective public participation in the governance of the City and to facilitate support and information sharing among community groups. Coalition of Community Associations - City of North Vancouver
(CCA-CNV)
OBJECTIVES
A. To protect and improve the quality of life in the City of North Vancouver.
B. To encourage more effective public input processes regarding local government issues.
C. To provide a united front in dealings with, and to observe, City Hall, while maintaining the full autonomy of each Community Association.
ROLE
1. Encourage formation of neighbourhood groups throughout the City.
2. Co-ordinate and promote interaction among Community Associations.
3. Distribute information to residents regarding issues from across the City.
4. Support, educate and co-ordinate collective actions of member associations.
5. Provide public education regarding participation in the public life of the City (e.g. Zoning Bylaws, the Official Community Plan and making representations to Council).
6. Co-ordinate all-candidates meetings during elections.
7. Obtain Council recognition of the Coalition.
8. Promote regular interaction with City Council.
